    Default 02 Visual Voicemail ...... Now ?

O2 have announced they are going to be supporting visual voice mail.

Do you think we will need a firmware update (thus breaking the lock) or that plist/baseband files can be edited to point to 02 servers.

I doubt a firmware update will be needed. More likely to just work.

Visual voicemail works in a similar fashion to MMS: an SMS is sent causing the phone to retrieve the audio files, from a server.

Yeah, it would be interesting to see if it can be made to work?

I've got an unlocked iPhone on O2 - UK, so going to have a play around a bit later and see what happens.

The engadget pictures show it working now...

Perhaps if you changed the notification preferences in your voicemail settings (call the voicemail) to use phone notification it would work.

I am on tmobile so not able to test..

I'd doubt it works with anything other than a properly activated (through 02) iPhone. There will likely be some checks in place to see if the phone you are using is indeed a candidate for Visual Voicemail by simply looking up your IMEI # in their database tp see if your using a legit/02 activated iPhone. Worth tweaking the IPN settings though, just in case to test.

yeah i doubt o2 is going to enable visual voicemail for all its customers, its likely that visual voicemail will onyl be activated for the sim cards activated with the iphone.

then again anyone using AT&T with an unlocked iphone get visual voicemail??
