You will need Cygiwn/MingW and compile the toolchain from source for it. There are few issues now see http://code.google.com/p/iphone-dev/wiki/Portability

C, C++, Obj-C, Python etc, see some code and makefiles from http://iphone.natetrue.com/ that could be your starting point.

here's an amazing suggestion - if somebody did make a binary toolchain distro for mac and for windows we'd probably get a lot more busy developers willing to jump in and build new apps for iPhone. I know I would if it wasn't a whole afternoon project just to set up the build environment.

Is it possible to build UI apps with python/some other non-compiled language?

I've already used python for some simple scripts on the iphone, but didnt think it could be used with uikit... can it?

specifically for uikit, what are the options? obj-c and cocoa I heard before?

If you can't put this much time into building the tools then you won't put much time into debugging your program or making good finishing touches. Having a flood of half assed apps doesn't help at all. Expecially since all of UIKit is undocumented - there's a LOT of work you have to do yourself.

Kroo also made a binary distro for Intel Macs, anyways, but this new toolchain 0.30 that iPhone_blr mentioned is where everyone is going.

You could install the hacked version of OSX on your Windows machine and dual boot.

Its not a matter of time and debugging.. Its a matter of compatibility, i realize there is no official iphone SDK, the question on hand is there a reasonable approach to programming iphone application under the windows operating system (xp or vista).
