Discuss [WeiSMS] Yet another native SMS application is available at the Free Toolchain Software (Cydia App's) - Hackint0sh.org; If author of this nifty little app is watching this thread, I'd like to say ...

If author of this nifty little app is watching this thread, I'd like to say something about the smileys:

when I choose ie. smiley with tounge, i get ":-p" text. Now, in incoming messages, smileys are not always strictly that formatted - that ver smiley can be written in different eays, like: ":-P" (with capital P), ": p" (without line symbol for a nose) and "" (same as the previous one but with capital letter again). Similar for any other type of smiley

I'd like if you could implement the feature that parses any of similar smiley styles and displays them as emoticons (in the example above, all would have the same icon). I don't think it would be too hard to implement...

Sorry if the post like this one already popped up somewhere, but I had to give my ideas for making this wonderful app even better.

P.S. - maybe Adium like styles for threaded conversations? (like built in SMS.app, but with easily skinned engine?)

    Cheers!

Really? I think you should only see the about page only once when you first time run the application or upgraded to a newer version.

So if you're always seeing the about page, this should be a bug and please report it.

BTW, if you scroll down, you will see english about

Well, I used to have this feature enabled by default, and finally I disabled it because I dont like the contact view behave that

In chinese there is a old saying that "Thousands of people have thounds of different taste" (Not sure I really translated it correclty

So it's depends on you guys. If you really think this is important, just reply and I'll re-enable it when I saw enough replies.

Thanks for your comments and you're the power to make the app better!

it's now almost all americanized, so if you still see chinese in the UI, this is a bug and please report.

Yep, you can try :-p & :-P repectively and they should have the same effect.

The problem currently is not the algorithm but I dont know how many simley text I should support and how many variants are there in the world for a smiley

So I will only support some variants of one smileys currently.

Or you are the author? Ok great. Listen, I love your program and am using it in convergence with SMSD. Here are some things your program needs to become better than SMSD.

    1. When adding contacts for a mass text, after you add a contact from, let's say the A's, and then you go back to add another contact, it always takes you back to the M's. Make it so it that it goes back to where you were for the last contact, in this case the A's.
    2. Better templates. With SMSD I can make a template on the computer and put in hundreds of phone numbers, and then put it in the var/root/Library/Preferences folder and it will show up as a template in SMSD with all of the numbers already in there. This way I can have a list of numbers to send a mass text to ready to go without having to manually input the numbers each time, which would take hours. I notice that you have templates in your program, but can you make your own template like I just described?

Things I would love to see in WeiSMS, partly implemented in SMSd:

    1. Sending contact info via SMS
    2. Exporting message text to email
    3. Being able to create your own templates

Are there any plans to implement any of these things?

Other than that, great app. Works far better with ASDeutsch (www.sendowski.de) than SMSd.

If you need help with the german translation of your app, I will be happy to help if you need someone to do it, though I can't do any coding. Just send me a pm. Still, being able to send contact data would be great. LOVE the search feature in WeiSMS!

any chance of making the 1000 text limit remove with this like in smsd?

    ofcourse along with the:

**taking you back to the contact you were at last, like smsd

**fixing the black screen over the keyboard when you return to the program - hardly a problem, but wanted to put in a list

**a major help would be to select more than one contact at once like just putting a check next to each name - makes it 1000x faster than selecting each individually
