I wonder how the first real virus is gonna look like or wuts it gonna do?
    I think they are gonna target mainly maii.app , safari, n mobilefone.app.
Now that we have mcafee's stinger someone's gonna try to challenge it and write a lil code some time

So far, malware for Mobile terminals have been pretty lame.
It's fairly easy to predict that the most interesting software will be developed using the free toolchain:

    http://www.amazon.com/iPhone-Open-Ap.../dp/0596518552

This because the Apple SDK is totally crippled WRT certain APIs. And this unfortunately will leave the door open for less nice stuff.
AV has its own limits too, that is that it only detects known malwares. But that's still better than nothing IMHO.
Since I find myself installing a lot of nice applications written with the open toolchain, I like the idea to be at least protected against the known treats.

I think it is kind of funny that McAfee has even confimed there approval to use the repo to iappcat. He has to get the permisission before he links to there repo, lol

According to this page, there a new version available:

    http://www.appleiphoneschool.com/200...russcan-10b02/

But I was getting package download failed from the Installer.app. Then I looked again and it seems, according to the last comment in that review, that McAfee temporarily stopped the Beta program (although someone seemed to have been able to fetch the latest version and post it on Emule).

hi, ya all, it is so nice to hear what everyone thinks of me, im a liar, and all that, the thing with my uncle is true, he told me after wards that the repo was only for beta testers so he had to lie to me, i didnt come on here till now because i have my own sites and forums to run, but just to make this clear, it is true (uncle), it is not true (virus, malacious) so go ahead and say what you want, but don't call me a liar, aight?

    Cheers,
    Ben.

    P.S.

The problem is not being a liar or not, the problem is much more simple.

"Don't impulsively install anything you'll find on repository in your phone before making sure it is safe"

If you obey this rule, nothing can happen.

Also, OS X has been proven to be much more secure and we haven't seen a real virus yet, but in fact only malicious apps (only found on p2p) that require users to enter their password to mess with their system.

There is no software protection/solution against this.

"common sense" and "half a brain" are the only solutions to prevent that.
    (don't remember where i read that )
