Ask for donations, give hope for a free application, then ask for money. Ya.. well done.

I had similar results, modding the file to use vbuzzer.com instead i can make calls, sound comes out of loudspeaker instead of the internal speaker unfortunately. If i plug a headphone in, theres only sound from the left channel. For some reason mic isn't working..... i'll test some more later.

for those of you wondering how to hex edit the file, you have to grab a hex editor, theres a lot of free ones out there, I just grabbed HxD, opened up the siphon file, and did a search for free, and modified the string from freephonie.net to vbuzzer.com:80

Does anyone else have the same problem? Can't find a manual anywhere...

By the way, according to http://freephonie.org/portal.php?article=3611&pid=1 the restriction to subscribers of freephonie.net will last 15 days. This is what touchmods calls "some days". They also say in the comments: "stop complaining, and start saving money for the fully working commercial version of Siphon." So they'll release a paid application after asking for donations to "buy an iPhone to do the development". (Even just a few comments earlier, they said: "You will have an open SW working with all providers in some days! We do appreciate your donation!").

Shady business ethics. I hope none of you have donated to these guys...

ok finally changed the sip server with a hex editor. i was able to make a phone call and i was able to hear (with iphone headphones only on left channel) and talk on the mic. The other party was able to hear me. I'll keep testing...

as i work around, i put the IP of the sip server instead of the full hostname after doing an nslookup:
    > sip.voipcheap.com
    Server: UnKnown
    Address: 192.168.1.1

    Non-authoritative answer:
    Name: sip.voipcheap.com
    Addresses: 194.120.0.198, 194.221.62.198

so i erased freephonie.net with an hex editor and put 194.120.0.198. If the IP changes you have to go back and do another nslookup and change it. this is only a work around until someone figures the proper way of doing it. hope this helps!!
