    He reads and responds there.

Touchmods seems to have deleted this page, as well as the announcement they made on January 3rd that VoIP for iPhone was "The next step". So I guess they don't see a way to make money on an iPhone version of their application.

Gusano, have you received any response yet? Or do you think you could team up with others who may be willing to develop your idea into an application? Maybe Truphone is interested, they were working on it three months ago.

Installing Cydia programs on a phone that has no internet connection: read this.

Editing binary .plist, .strings, .nib and .xib files:
    * on your computer: Windows tool / conversion website.
    * on your iPhone: convert those files in a terminal with plutil (installed with Erica Utilities) or edit them with iFile (Cydia links).

    That's really not cool...

Something I can't understand is why the internal mic could work perfectly under some applications such as voice recording applications, guitar tuner, Skype ans so on.. and not with touchmods...

I'm unfortunatly not a programmer and I have no idea of the iPhone's internal way of working, but why does it not possible to read some source codes from opensources application using internal mic and integrated the right code into TouchMods...

    Hi there,

Gusano, have you received any response yet? Or do you think you could team up with others who may be willing to develop your idea into an application? Maybe Truphone is interested, they were working on it three months ago.
Actually I got contacted by the actual developer himself. We spent the last weekend, almost non-stop trying to make the microphone work in a acceptable volume. It took me all friday night (yes, my girlfriend did not like it a lot ) just to install the toolchain in my ubuntu box (yes, I know, Ubuntu is for dummies :p), so I started applying my ideas together with Samuel and nothing conclusive came up. There is some kind of software volume limitation for the microphone that we can query but we cannot change!. Believe me, he and I have tried all possible (documented and not very well documented) ways to remove this limitation but we always get nothing. The sound card has dynamic auto leveling in hardware and its upper bound level depends on this magical number I'm talking about. There must be a way to change it since it works very well when you make a call. We know that this can be controlled in a low level library and documented (for OSX), but the only thing we get when we try to change that limitation is a permission denied (kAudioDevicePermissionsError for the connoisseurs). The iphone logic want us to interface with the high level MeCCA library (unique to iPhone, i.e undocumented) to do that. Despite of all my reversing efforts I have not found a way to call the functions in that library. To make it short my hack enabled the possibility to record from the sound card but uncovered a software limitation that I'm starting to think it is there on purpose ... hopefully I'm wrong.

Don't despare, I will continue helping Samuel on that. I have the advantage of being fresh, the poor guy must be already extenuated, he has put a lot of effort in his sip tool. In any case, we will get for sure an answer when the sdk gets out. That day the secrets of the MeCCA lib will be finally revealed!.

About the question that everybody ask: "why not use Erica's code for recording", the answer can be simplified: Erica's way is half duplex.... the sip client should be full duplex. So given the choice of having a sip client that works like a walkie talkie or a sip client that works as a normal telephone, I would have chosen the later .

    Take care,

    Gusano.

Thanks gusano for letting us know what is going on with the development on the Iphone. Your efforts are very much appreciated and the fact that you are letting us know what stage of progress you are at means that we arent asking the same question all the time.

I hope the SDK reveals the secrets that you are after !

Great news! Thanks to touchmods! But their temporary lock to "free..." is a bit harsh for those who already donated.

hmm can't be to hard to replace freephone.net with another provider... just changing it with notepad crashes the program, but i'm sure there are people in this forum who know how to proper edit this program
