in both, u cant save the settings ie.it says saved but reverts back to defaults once u return to the springboard.
i have tried vyke.com (sip.vyke.com) as well as voipstunt.com (sip.voipstunt.com) but either it just freezes or gives 'Verify your account info' message when u press the SIP button on the dialpad.
can someone plz provide a set of basic setting up steps including an example with a working sip provider (including which exact name sip name shud be use)??
As I said a couple of posts back, run Siphon from terminal (as root) and/or chmod permissions on settings file.

That did the trick for me, settings are now saved.

Now for some reason, Siphon doesn't connect to my sip provider any longer since some time.

Worked fine at first, now I allways get "invalid credentials" error ...

Installing Cydia programs on a phone that has no internet connection: read this.

Editing binary .plist, .strings, .nib and .xib files:
    * on your computer: Windows tool / conversion website.
    * on your iPhone: convert those files in a terminal with plutil (installed with Erica Utilities) or edit them with iFile (Cydia links).

well, it's now clear this is a good product, full of bugs. There is no support and everyone is having the same problem. I do not think we need to use terminal to chmod some files from an application... this is not the right way to do it.

better forget about this one and move on...

Please remember me, how much did you pay for the "support" you're requesting ?

It's a free product, still in it's early alpha/beta stage, delivered "as-is" for who ever wants to test it.

If you're not confortable with chmoding some files in terminal, you should stay away from any non commercial app IMHO.

that's why I am moving on and forget about it...

i am not interested in something not working properly.

i have much more things to do then trying to fix a situation in a software supposed to work fine.

there are tons of non commercial app with proper support and they do work.

I am quite sure you have a lot of them in your iphone right now...

ok, now Touchmods Siphon 1.0 doesnt hang/freeze when pressing the SIP button while using my vyke or voipstunt accounts.
but in both the cases i too get the msg
    Connection error
    Verify your account parameters
now incase of voipstunt, i connected to the client on the pc and then tried to connect to the same account thru siphon
and when i got the error on siphon, i got the msg on the pc client that i have connected from another machine to the same account.
so i know siphon was able to successfully connect but why didnt it accept the parameters?
also, is there still a Siphon 1.2 going around or will Touchmods Siphon 1.0 be developed further for the iphone itself?

EDIT (14/03/2008): wow, its been 5 days since my last post which was the last post of this thread and still no one has got this working right (and with which voip client) nor has anyone posted a proper guide to getting siphon working properly and also no news regarding a new version.<sigh>
this is a gr8 killer app but sadly no developments

touchmod's sip-voip 1.2 is out. but what about siphon?
has there been any progress regarding siphon or can we use touchmod's sip-voip on our iphones now?
coz the 'verify your parameters' error still occurs for me in siphon 1.0 for voipstunt and vyke.

There seems to be a tiny bit of activity on Siphon: see http://code.google.com/p/siphon/source/list
It's mainly been "move this around, change the name of that", etc. There is just one person active (Samuel), but it's definitely not looking like he has a lot of enthusiasm for the project (unless "moving files to build a clean install" is the start of a long weekend of coding...).
