Smile [TimeCapsule] Backup all your data from the iPhone!

    Hi all,

After a long time, we have an app like xBackup on a Windows Mobile device. Yes, its TimeCapsule. I have found it to be one of the most useful apps. You can backup a wide variety of data - from Installer sources to SMS and Contacts! Its a cool and good looking app, just add the following source to Installer to get it-

    repo.databinge.com

and you will find TimeCapsule in Utilities.

I dont get it....Its cool....ya you can backup stuff, but how do you restore the information you backed up if you completly restore your iPhone (IE putting 1.1.4 on) etc????

Does it save the backups in some folder that does not get touched when you restore your iPHone??

At this point, it does not. It will need some sort of export solution so that maybe the backed up files can be saved to a compressed/zipped file and copied to a computer via SSH or one of the apps that can access the iPhone's filesystem, or uploaded to a server for storage. Before I restore, I just use WinSCP to copy the preferences folders for MMS, Voicemail, and Installer. It is usually not necessary to back up Calendar, MobileSafari, and Contacts since those synch up with iTunes even if a Restore is done. So I usually synch with iTunes right before I Restore so that those three items will be up to date.

I must be missing the point of this application then. If you cant restore your information if you phone gets "reset" whats the point?

so maybe, i will just stick to iphone pc suite because this can backup all my info on my pc.

but anyway, time capsule is great. it just needs some improvement on saving backup to PC.
