Default Is there a way to transform web apps into native apps?

I love battlefield and bejeweled (and puzzler from apple is addictive too!), but I don't have internet access all the time (don't have GPRS) but I would like to play them whenever I want! so, am I ignorant or this can't be done?
    as always, thanks in advance!

the only way that I can think of is by using the best buy easy button... All joking aside, probably the easiest way to get those games in a native environment would be to make a flash program, then tie it into MobileFinder so that you could browse and then open files with flash player. You would also get a easy way to make the flash player safari plugin if a native standalone flash player was to be made.

Actually none of those games are Flash. They are essentially just javascript and images. If they were flash, they wouldn't work on the phone at all .

One thing you could do is install Apache or a similar webserver on the phone, and then host the games locally. Then when you didn't have web access, you'd go to something like http://localhost/battlefleet/ and still be able to play the games.

I've been thinking about this a lot and it would be very cool to have a native phone app that hooks into Safari (Safari web plugin?) and can download full pages and copy them over to the local server.

The bookmarklet method DID work for me for several apps including the puzzler demo you mentioned. Make sure you're getting all the required files. I used privoxy to log the file transfers and curl'ed the list of files.

I have since switched to the local apache method because its more convenient, but performance is identical.

ok, I'm going to try it again tomorrow...perhaps my mistake was that I was writing the URL?
Thanks for the report on that btw...
