I was actually hoping for mplayer, which would probably be a lot easier to implement and is much more flexible.

Plus after mplayer is ported and the command line version works, it'll be fairly simple to make a GUI for it

Isn't VLC based off of mplayer and ultimately ffmpeg? Getting ffmpeg running, especially if it can access the camera, would be tres cool. But it seems as though the codecs would be the biggest issue.

I know close to nothing about "hardcore" programming, so this could be complete BS...

Wouldn't the TCPMP codecs be easier to port, since they are already written to work on ARM??
Sure MPlayer is flexible, but TCPMP is already avaliable on ARM, although for an other OS... Don't know, my post was more to ask than to suggest, i guess

    Sorry for my english xD

You're right, I completely forgot that TCPMP was already running on ARM, and so it should work. But a quick google shows that VLC is also (somewhat?) running under ARM, so that might be a solution too. Interesting.

i like TCPMP because it's pretty simple, no fancy stuff to slow u down.. plays pretty much any media format. has amp options to increase the volume to the extream. pluss it can play .flv (youtube)
