    Default [srelay] Connecting to a remote SSH server

    Hi,

    I successfully used srelay (and Z's BIND/DNS port) last time I was on vacations with no available Internet connexion. It worked, more or less, with some odd DNS problems tho.

    Here's what I did:
    * create an ad-hoc network between the computer (192.168.0.1) and the iPhone (192.168.0.2)
    * setup the computer so that it uses the SOCKS proxy on 192.168.0.2:1080
    * launch srelay
    * (start BIND/DNS)

    After this great success, I tried a much more complicated task: connecting my laptop to some remote SSH server using the tethered iPhone, and use the remote server to proxy my internet connection!

    Usually, I connect using the common "SSH -D 1234 myname@myserver.com" command, which creates a local SOCKS proxy on port 1234.

    The problem is that srelay also creates a SOCKS proxy on the iPhone, and that the latter must be used on the PC/Mac (eg: proxy at 192.168.0.2:1080, for example)

    Of course, typing the "SSH -D..." on the computer didn't work. Cannot connect.

    But the same command works if typed on the iPhone, using the MobileTerminal (or via SSH, but that makes a bit too many SSH connexions )

    Does anyone see what I missed?

    Thanks,

    Cheers...

    Default Backway around

    Hi Zabadu,

    its greate that you could configure srelay to connect to the iphones network, i would like to ask if you know how to make it the otherway around.

    I need to configure my computer with the srelay server and my iphone with the srelay client and give my iphone internet through adhoc connection and srelay.

    Could you help?

    Default

    I think that implies that the iPhone connects via a SOCKS proxy. IMHO it's not possible to setup the phone this way, but I may be wrong.
