Default [Springboard] Applications, How can I rename them?

The topic title tells it all... I have no clue on how to do that. For example, I want to rename "snes4iphone" to "SNES".

Well, here's the thing. The iPhone applications get their names directly from the folder in which the program is contained. Many programs have links to the directory such as "/Root/Applications/snes4iphone/file.whatever" instead of just "/file.whatever" in their programming, meaning that if you change it for the name, the app wont work.

I found that symlinking the application folder, changing the symlink's name to what you want to see, and hiding the original application (I don't know how to do that on 1.1.3 now, but Summerboard probably does it for 1.1.1 and 1.1.2) works just fine for my purposes.

lol, yeah... i could have come up with the solution myself.

but you gave me a good hint!

the folder i had to rename was in /Applications. no need for symlinks, though.

But how does MobileSMS.app do it? It's called "Text" in Springboard...

Installing Cydia programs on a phone that has no internet connection: read this.

Editing binary .plist, .strings, .nib and .xib files:
    * on your computer: Windows tool / conversion website.
    * on your iPhone: convert those files in a terminal with plutil (installed with Erica Utilities) or edit them with iFile (Cydia links).
