Default SNES (is it that crazy)?

I keep reading that the controller for the snes would be to hard to put on the screen to big to many buttons. sooo to prove a point i made this its really ruff and i had finished it and it was awesome i even had the a place for the L and R buttons but right after my computer crashed,so i copied in the nes buttons and will ill post this one for now and have the finished one tomorrow.

(This is just photoshoped to prove the controller could fit not a emulator)

Sounds awesome, but I still can't even play punch out or final fantasy on my iPhone using the newest version of the NES emulator, so I doubt SNES is coming any time soon...

The buttons being crowded is probably not one of the major problems.

This is my idea for the top buttons you wouldn't be able to use the arrow keys ant press the L button but the top buttons were never used much anyways

I haven't played it a ton but its been working perfect for me ware are you running into problems with FF1? I'm using NES.app http://iphone.natetrue.com/nesapp/
I know the buttons was never the main issue but theres no doubt that there was a lot of talk that there would have to be an external controller or that it just wouldn't work because of the buttons. And insted of saying i think it can i made this.

I believe its more an issue of controls and lack of a proper SDK than anything else....

Its not like the iphone cant do SNES emulation...its got more than enough horsepower. The lack of hardware buttons hurts though
iPhone 4 GB running 1.1.1 (virginized from 1.0.2) on Vodafone Greece
    Activated/Jailbroken/Unlocked via Safari Exploit/TouchFree/Anysim
    Calls in/out YES/YES
    SMS in/out YES/YES
EDGE Probably yes, havent tried yet
    Wifi/YouTube/Wireless iTunes YES/YES/YES

the problem isnt about fitting the buttons, its about having a feel where they are. for nes there is only two and even that gets very annoying, without having a physical feel, its hard to know whether you are pressing them without taking your eyes off the game screen... the more buttons you add, the more complicated this becomes...

even on the nes app, games like mario world or contra become difficult to play as you need to repeteadly tapp buttons and switch between them quickly, I gave up on it pretty fast, id rather just buy a gameboy to take aroudn with me. I can only imagine what a mess a game with even more buttons would be...

.. its really a shame that the phone has only the home button at the bottom... if it had a d-pad and a couple of buttons (like the htc touch) the possibilities would be much greater.

Ya I am. I 'm using version 1.8 of the nes emulator you linked to, and final fantasy runs poorly. The sound only seems to be partially working, and it's slow and jerky. Is it just me?

I played my FF1 bit today to see if i had issues with it but it seemed to work just as good as any of the other games. I'm almost for sure i remember hearing other people saying it ran poor on theres, so i don't think your the only person. Do you have another apps running? try doing a soft reset not lunching anything but your nes app and see if it still runs choppy or you still have problems if not then its something running thats causing your problems.
