Question [1.1.4] [SMSD] v0.2.1 Constantly Crashes on Load [SOLVED]

    Hi Guys,

I used to use SMSD quite a lot, but since I have upgraded to v1.1.4 I can't get SMSD to work again.

When I click on the icon, the application launches, but is only on the screen for about 1 second before it crashed back to the main dock.

v1.1.2 OTB - iPlus 2.0b --> v1.14 - BSDSubsystem, and all of the required patches like AppSupport, etc.

Any ideas? I have tried searching and all of the results come up with v1.1.3 results that don't work!

    ???

you have to delete ur current version of SMSD, download SMSD v0.2.3beta1 zip files and manually install SMSD v0.2.3beta1 from amrut.joshi.googlepages.com...place the correct files in the correct directory of ur iPhone (SMSD.app folder goes in /Applications)...do not replace MobileSMS.app directory just copy the files inside then restart ur phone and youre good...IM me if u need help...

p.s. this works perfectly on 1.1.4 w/o any extra things to install...and it also doesnt matter how u have jailbroken ur phone

Default [1.1.4] [SMSD] v0.2.1 Constantly Crashes on Load [SOLVED]

Okay, So I have downloaded and extracted the SMSD-v0.2.3beta1.zip file and have the following:

    /SMSD-v0.2.3beta1
    - /Applications
    - - /MobileSMS.app
    - - - /SMSDHelper (Which I simply copied across)
    - - /SMSD.app (Which I simply copied across - after I uninstalled the old 0.22 version)
    - /Library
    - - /LaunchDaemons
    - - - /com.amrut.iphone.SMSD.plist (Which I simply copied across)

I copied everything over. Let's see if it works!

UPDATE: Nope ... The App still opens, but crashes after about 3 seconds.

UPDATE #2: PERMISSIONS !!!! You forgot about those!!!

--> I needed to set the permissions on "SMSD" and "SMSDNotifer" to 755 ... and it worked!

    Thanks for your help!!!

I have same problem. I installed via Installer.app but need to change the permissions. Can't seem to do that via terminal. Please advise.

It should work if you follow the instructions on his website http://amrut.joshi.googlepages.com/ (I have it working perfectly on 1.1.4 too):

You need to download the v023beta1 zip file and install manually

Default Simple Step by Step installing SMSD on 1.1.4

My iPhone is a 1.1.4 unlocked with iLiberty

    1) install SMSD any version only from the STE Packaging repository

    2) download SMSD-v0.2.3beta1.zip from Amrut Joshi's site
    http://amrut.joshi.googlepages.com/SMSD-v0.2.3beta1.zip

    3) connect with your iphone using SSH.

    4) overwrite the installed SMSD.app in Applications on your phone with the SMSD.app under from the folder "Applications" you downloaded

    5) change permissions of SMSD.app folder and all its contects to 0755.

    6) Copy your old sms.db file from /var/mobile/library/sms (Backup)

    7) Delete your that old sms.db file from /var/mobile/library/sms (just to start from a clean slate and avoid a corrupted sms.db)

    8) reboot your iPhone, open the default sms app (for it to create a new sms.db)

    9) Now copy that old sms.db file to get back all your SMS.

This above works for me. I hope it does for you too...

everything works great except for the following:
    - do not set SMSD as the default sms app, it will corrupt the phone's sms functions.
    - templates is not working for v0.2.3beta1
