Default [SMS] PYSL vs IBlacklist - Call and SMS Blocker / Filter

I am comparing 2 pieces of fairly new software. I would like to donate to the first piece of software that can actual block an unknown and/or blocked number to getting to my voicemail.

Here are my results on blocking calls to my voicemail. I am using 1.1.4 on a Tmobile network.

    PYSL:
Known Number doesn't ring, sends to Voicemail, but doesn't Stop to Voicemail. Good
Unknown Number doesn't ring, sends to Voicemail, but doesn't Stop to Voicemail. Good
*These are both half of the way there. It is good on not having the phone ring, but doesn't prevent a caller from leaving a voicemail. I have used the Stop to Voicemail but it doesn't seem to actual work for the Known Number, I don't see an option for this on Unknown numbers

    IBlacklist:
Known number doesn't ring, sends to Error code, and blocks to Voicemail - Perfect
Unknown number rings as normal and sends to voicemail as normal - not perfect
*This works great for known numbers, it does everything, but for Unknown numbers it doesn't work at all for me.

Please let me know if you have any different experiences or recommendations. I have not tested any of the SMS blocking tools.

I also do want to thank the developers of both products for creating these apps this far. This is great work and definitely should be something included in the iPhone

Hi I am on 114 too and I've both PYSL and iBlacklist installed.

I agreed on the PYSL part. However, the IBlacklist that I've installed does block unknown number too...

To me, I will vote on iBlacklist on the call blocking part as it is more stable compared to PYSL which till date still very problematic despite the fact that I've installed the latest version (0.42b1)

    Hi mates

I donīt want to force you all to a direction to my program (Iīm one of the developers of iBlacklist). Nice to know you are giving it a chance too. Thank you.

    Chadle

What is happening to you is that Unregistered Version of iBlacklist doesnīt perform the phonebook check, so toggle the Unknown Number option has no effect on the comparing numbers routine. Also, only the first two contacts on each list are used to block or free them on your iPhone.
On the registered version, everything works fine, like terencec said.

Please, this week we will be releasing the 1.7 version, wich is being testing since this weekend. We prefer to test it before release instead to put it on the net and get it doing unwanted things on iphoneīs around the world.
This release, will have the complete SMS and a nice Scheduler part. Also, i enhanced the comparing numbers algorithm, so itīs really strong now!!!
Please keep checking for the update to 1.7

    Thank you for your opinions

Just wanted to give an update.

When I was testing calls from Unknown numbers, I tested it using skype and it was coming up as unknown, but still accepting the call.

I then tried testing it with *67 in front of the number, in the US it blocks the Caller ID from showing, and with iBlacklist it works perfect, even with an unregistered version.

I haven't tested with PYSL yet, because the Stop to Voicemail still doesn't seem to work and that is a requirement for me.

I did find another problem today, and when I am in a middle of a conversation with someone that I do want to be talking to it completely drops the call. I have noticed this within 45 seconds to 2 minutes of the call. It will drop it, goes silent, I will look at my phone and it will be at the "Slide to Unlock" screen. I am not sure on exactly why it is doing this, but I think it may be when I am on a good call and the number I want to be block calls in, I think it may be dropping it. Is there anyone else out there that has these symptoms?

Although now I think I will go ahead and register this iBlacklist product.

Although, if I do register it, how many updates are we allowed with it?
If I register now, will I inclusive of future versions?

    Thanks

    Chadle

    Hi Chadle

First about the problem you told me. Indeed, we found a little "thing" we forget on this current version. As a result, when the phone has the auto lock set to x minutes and you are talking on the phone, the auto lock enters in action and the call is droped. Also, if you notice, this little thing we forget makes the phone does not turn off the display when you accept the call, so you can accidentally disconnect the call when you put it to your ear and touch the screen with your face.
But itīs fixed now on the 1.7 version. Weīll be releasing it really soon (today i think)

Now about the upgrades. The activation key is the same for your iphone, so if you need to restore it or uninstall the app and intall later again, you can use the same code. Just keep a backup on your e mail or something.
Everyone has the right to unlimited updates. The activation only enable the Unknown Number feature and remove the 2 contacts limit.
We are constantly working on this app, and the 1.7 now is really much better than 1.6. Please try the 1.7 first, make your mind about wich to choose and go for it!!!

    Thank you mate

Hi mate, no popup when the phone is locked and it receives a blocked call.
Also, no popup when the phone is locked and it receives a blocked SMS.
And to finish no popup section, thereīs no popup when the phone isnīt locked and it receives a blocked SMS.
But it has normal popups for non blocked calls and non blocked smsīs, normally as usual.
Also, no problem at all with badges (bubbles) on both mobileSMS app and MobilePhone app when a block is performed.

The SMS part will be available on 1.7 version.

Nice work with this app... Its already very good. What I would like is to turn off the reminder of received sms or call from blocked contact... I mean the small icon just next to battery indicator. In PYSL one can turn this feature off and on.

Your work is really appreciated...I think of donating too.

Just disable the Show Statusbar Icon in both SMS and Call settings.
