Default [SMS] 4 "Read" messages remain unread

There are four SMS messages/conversations on my girlfriend's iphone that refuse to be marked as read. No matter how many times I open the sms.app and read the messages, when I quit out, the messages are unread again.

I've restarted the phone several times, but the problem persists. I've also changed the permission for the sms database to 777. That didn't do anything, either.

This problem just started day before yesterday, and doesn't happen with all conversations. Unfortunately, she also can't erase these conversations.

Has this happened to anyone else? Any fix?

    thanks.

    Smersch,

I've had this problem in the past when I used to use the (native) sms program on the iphone interchangeably with the third party iSMS or SMSD software.

A solution I found was to use the iReadMail software (installed through installer - check iappcat.com for source). This nifty little software marks all your email as read so you dont have to manually go through every spam you receive, but it also fixed the sms notification issue as well.

    Hope this helps

She uses SMSD a lot. Maybe that did something. In any case, I'll try this fix.

Thanks. Will keep this thread updated.

this problem happens alot with me when I use iSMS, it sometimes happens when I open the new SMS with iSMS first...not with iPhone SMS.app..so the solution was to open it first using SMS.app then go to iSMS if I need to forward or for any language support.

iReadMail didn't help me out for my unread SMS issue.

My issue came about back in March using iSMS. Now deleting the conversation would be a remedy, but I do not want to delete that individual's conversation.

Anyone out there want to write an "iReadSMS" app?
