Default Simon clone - very early version

I've put up an early version of a Simon clone (mimic the computer by pressing the same buttons, etc.). The sourceforge page is: http://sourceforge.net/projects/garf.

This is a very early (but functional) version. If you play it or look at the code, please give me feedback. I'm new to ObjC...I usually never leave the land of Java. And I'm not used to having to delete objects...I usually have the Java maid do it for me.

The sound may be inconsistent. AudioQueue is apparently pretty new, and there weren't many examples of how it's used. (If you build the program yourself, you will need AudioQueue.h, which wasn't included with the XCode 2.5 set of headers that you may have used to build the toolchain with. I got mine by searching on Google, but it may also be in the XCode 3 dmg...not sure though.)

Nice game. I posted up screenshots here. Will it be available on installer soon, and if so, at what source? Thanks.

I haven't even thought about Installer yet--I don't think it's near ready. Thanks though. -JLA

I like those graphics a lot more than the ones I did...except of course, they could never be released with the software due to the trademark stuff. The ones I did were merely "stubs"...placeholders for later graphics, which would presumably be redone by someone more graphically gifted than I.

So if anyone wants to contribute graphics for Garfunkel, please let me know or post them on this board or somewhere. The main restriction is that they cannot look like Simon TOO much (i.e. can't be near-exact replica). Also, the button layout is flexible...I may add a configuration file that allows the customization of button location.

(I may switch the buttons to an north-east-west-south configuration so they will be compatible with the Wii-style mode I have planned.)

It isn't working for me under 1.1.2
Any ideas why? It kinda loads, but I can only see the background and then after like 10 seconds it brings me back to the springboard. I'm 100% positive I installed it correctly as I've got ~125 other apps working just fine on my phone.

Not sure...maybe you have too many apps. Try checking how much room you have in OS partition by typing "df -h" in the terminal. You can also try running it from the terminal to look for error messages...type "./garf". Please let me know what you find out. JLA

Okay I figured it out. It was a permissions thing. For some reason, it shows as having full permissions in winscp but not in terminal. Anyways, I just chmod'd it and it works now. Thanks!

    Default New version of Garf

For those who are interested, I've put up a new version (0.15) of Garf...it's on the Source Forge site. Changes include: a mute button, 'Freestyle' button changes colors when activated, a few bug fixes, a new background image/splash screen, better labels (fonts, etc).

It's still an early version though.

How (where) would I release this on Installer? I don't have the bandwidth to host it...
    Thanks
    JLA
