Thumbs up [Ringtones] New app to convert your mp3 in ringtones directly in your iPhone

I just found it in frenchiphone forum : it is called Ringtones, it works great and will probably become a must have app.
You must have installed BSD Subsytem et SUID Lib Fix .
Add i.danstaface.net in your sources in the installer, refresh and you will find it in the Multimedia section of the installer.

The first conversion is slow and needs wifi to run and to incorporate one big runtime over the net.
After the first conversion, it is quicker and smoother and does not need any connection over wifi!
Your converted ringtones go directly to Settings/Sounds/Ringtone.

Great app that works in 1.1.3 exactly like SendSong used to work in previous FWs.

    Enjoy

PS : I just found out that you can directly in the app see all your ringtones and edit them with the possibility to delete any ringtone!!!

Yeah, i'd rather have the conversion process straight from the phone. It wouldn't be that hard to incorporate the converting process into the application rather than converting it over the internet. If that's what it's doing, of course. Can anybody confirm why Wifi is needed?
    Thumbs up if i helped.

Thumbs up Why That First And Only Connection Over Wifi

This wonderful app DOES NOT CONVERT SONGS OVER INTERNET : I just got the explanation from the author why it connects over internet the first time you launch the app :

It needs to get, over internet, one big runtime that he did not want to incorporate in the package to reduce its size : that is the explanation of the one and only time it runs over internet. For the next updates, you will not need that first connection over the net!!You would already got that big runtime.

All the next conversions DO NOT NEED WIFI CONNECTION, only the first conversion like when you install any app!!!

SOLVED! And that app is really worth it!!!!!!!

PS : It does work for some in 1.1.4 !

Sounds VERY phishy if you ask me... I can't quite see any good reason for transmitting a huge chunk of data the first time the application is run contrary to the time it is installed.
The user expects data to be transmitted during installation, but not on first run. The developer would need to spend more time on coding a separate data download instead of just adding this "runtime" (Jiggy?) to the installer. "To reduce the size of the installer" is NOT an explanation, sorry

Anyone sniffed the network traffic on first run to make sure it isn't just transfering your address book for the authors email collection to sell to spammers?

Since identifying malware is my job, that time wouldn't be wasted. So it is something I actually think about.

But actually, why do the work again if someone tried it before? Suspicions were there, so it's not completely unlikely. That's why I asked.

So, why don't you either provide something useful to the topic, or skrew yourself (sorry, couldn't resist ). Oh, and registering a separate forum account just to be anonymous when getting rude really isn't necessary

    omg get a life !!!
    - i'm the author of this shit so i can say to you : loose your time if you want ... i know my code, so i know what this tool do and don't.
    - its not a separate account, its my first account, created specially for you, because i don't want to see some fox mulder launching false rumors...
you really think you provide something useful to the topic by launching rumor ???

I think you have to change your job, a real professional will never say something like this without verification ... Or you loose credibility... if you have some... not sure (yes i have a poor english ...)

Well, speaking about "professional", a professional author would write a real explanation instead of an attack as his first post

But if you want a professional explanation:
Spyware (and Other Potentially Unwanted Technologies), by the ASC, the official coalition of anti-spyware vendors. See Automatic Download Software. See also the explanation above: "An underlying technology typically becomes unwanted when it is implemented in a way that provides no benefit to -- or actively harms -- authorized users.". A delayed download of parts required for the usage does no benefit to the user (might even harm him if he stuff is later downloaded over an expensive EDGE connection, not sure if this warning that WiFi is needed is a software requirement or a usage requirement that needs the user to take care of it).

So actually I wouldn't even need any bad payload to say that it might be bad, since it's fullfilling the criteria for Potentially Unwanted Technologies already.

I think the ASC is quite credible. And with 90% of all tricklers I've encountered so far having bad intention, I would NOT be behaving professional if I would ignore one if I would see it.

If you intend to be professional, I suggest you describe where the real benefit of the delayed download would be for the user.
