But the DB would be wasting my precious memory, and its not like most people would really need wikipidia to be 'fast'. I think the reader thing would work great over edge. Hell I surf the internet over edge all the time without problems, I really don't see why ppl complain so much about edge speeds. Works great when I have more then 3 bars.

I think I may give this project a bash (as my first)
Should be pretty easy to implement...

Memory sure is precious. But I'd rather have the vast knowledge base that is wikipedia over some songs/videos. That's just me though.

And EDGE is quite expensive in most places so browsing over EDGE all the time is not a good option for most people.

Couldn't the Wikipedia database be converted into a StarDict dictionary, so it can be used with the existing weDict application?

Installing Cydia programs on a phone that has no internet connection: read this.

Editing binary .plist, .strings, .nib and .xib files:
    * on your computer: Windows tool / conversion website.
    * on your iPhone: convert those files in a terminal with plutil (installed with Erica Utilities) or edit them with iFile (Cydia links).

Its deffinitely possible to put it into the .dict format (wedict) I'm already running wiktionary with wedict, I just extracted the files that I downloaded from here http://www.stardict.org/wikipedia/
You will not get the idxc files, the phone will create these when first searching the dictionary. The reason why we dont already have the whole wikipedia has to do with the stardict software, maybe the parsing plugin, not being able to work with such a big file. I still think the best shot of getting this working is to do it via Wedict.
