    Default Request: Sleep mode clock

    Hi,

Does there exist an app which can show the current date and time on the screen while the iphone is sleeping? Think about it...big white numbers on that large screen.....you don't need a watch! Currently having to press the home button to see the time kinda bugs me......

    Cheers

    Hi there,
sleep mode is trying to help you to save energy.
One of the most ( if not the ) draining things is your screen and its backlighting.
So your requested app would pretty much make the sleep mode senseless.
Okay, wifi & Bluetooth are also switched off after a while of sleep but that probably would be the only difference of "your" sleep/clock mode to just keeping the iPhone on.

So i do not think that would be a great idea, or am i totally wrong ?!

    Greetings,

    Ender

The backlight actually doesn't need to be on. I don't know for sure..but isn't it possible to have some numbers displayed on the screen without technically having the backlight on?

Most other cellphones (Nokia, SE, Motorola etc.) do have a clock "screen saver" kind of thing......

The numbers don't have to be too bright either....just legible....don't see too much of a battery drain with that......
