Man, that thing is pretty neat, but at $400 i'll have to pass.

Unfortunately, writing the software isn't going to be as simple as it would appear to be as the iPhone may not have the necessary bluetooth protocols.

Yup, lack of support for Serial Port Profile makes it impossible.

if Apple was to update the bluetooth stack to include SPP, then I'm sure the app could be created, but AFAIK it is not within any modders capability to update the bt stack so were SOL right now.

I would say that the watch can't be used with the iPhone just for now. There is a good possibility that Apple will update the Bluetooth stack in 2.0 though.

i hate to bring this topic back up, but i see that the last post was back in june. i just wanted to know if anybody knows if the iphones are now compatible with such devices. i would like one of these watches as well and have the 3g iphone. i was unable to find any current information and was hoping someone here would know if they work now or not.

    thanks

It's my understanding that the SE bluetooth watches are proprietary and are only intended to be compatible with SE phones, which is a real shame.

That WM solution makes me really jealous, though. A similar thing for the iPhone would not be so difficult if the bluetooth stack wasn't so crippled. Unfortunately, we can't yet upgrade the BT stack, so we're SOL.

    Default Any news?

So, it's been about a year since this was discussed, has there been any changes?

    - Is it possible to use MBW-150 with the new iphone?

    - If not, is the required bluetooth functionality available for third-party developers? (I am a developer by trade, so I could do it unless required bluetooth functionality is locked, I just didn't want to bother trying to figuring out whether it is possible by myself as I have done no programming for the iphone or bluetooth protocols before, hoping someone else will know)

    - If not, do you know if it is possible with the Palm Pre? That is my second choice for a new phone right now (either way I'm leaving SonyEricsson, getting tired of bad quality hardware...)
