Default [Req] Playing regular videos on iPhone

Hey guys, I am new to Apple product (iPhone is my first) and have a question.

"Can my iPhone play regular movies/videos without converting it to mp4 file?"

My phone has been jailbraek-ed with 1.1.4.

I just hate the fact that I have to convert movie files everytime I put into my iPhone. I would like to know if there's more convinient way. Thanks!

If you install ORB, you can watch any videos directly from PC by WIFI, you need to have the ORB server running tho.

It's pretty bizarre that no one has created an AVI player yet, the phone OS is OSX right? How hard can it be??

Please don't use Orb. It's Windows-only and, therefore, badly written. Converting your files into MPEG4 is relatively quick, can be easily automated and, if you want to be really format-purest about the whole exercise, is probably a better and more compatible format for your movies to be in anyway. MP4 isn't an Apple invention - they just happen to have taken the line that it's better to support a standard than go inventing a proprietary one of their own (looking at WMV here).
