Love your app. Really appreciate your effort to help the iPhone users who are looking for some way to do push email. Wondering if you can add this feature to automate the "push" email process.

Can you add as an option to automatically "check" email? I know this will shut down and restart MobileMail.app and force a pull. I believe the only issue is when for example that I am writing or reading an email in MobileMail.app. Here is the concept of what I am thinking.

When iMapIdle gets a notification when a new email arrives, it will provide a popup message for 10~15 seconds (or user selectable in Option menu). The popup will allow you to cancel "check" email if I happen to be using MobileMail.app. If not it will continue on to "check" MobileMail.app. Basically it will go through a "check" unless the user cancel it within certain amount of time. If my phone is in standby I should only get notification directly from MobileMail.app when it gets new emails. I guess this is probably the best push email solution we could get until the API is out.

I know this is probably not ideal for everyone. But for me this means by the time I get the sound notifications I know the emails are there in MobileMail.app. (Kind of like push email). let me know if this is possible to add as an option. I will be very willing to help and test any new features.

    04. use to work for me, but would work for a while when stop. 0.5 I have not been able to get to work with gmail since its release. Tried manual installs and recently tried again installing via installer.

I didnt try it with GMail yet, but with Microsoft Exchange it works like a treat. There are bugs still, I had one full phone crash requiring a reboot, the battery drainage is huge, so I keep it off for nights. Otherwise its excellent.

The worst battery drain issues seem to come from the combination of wifi with ImapIdle. ImapIdle on EDGE doesn't seem as bad. Somebody should run some experiments to confirm that. In general, my phone dies very fast when I turn on wifi, and holds up like a champ to 1-2 days of regular usage with EDGE only.

Hi rcgabriel -- I think I posted something with the same impressions last week. So, every morning before I leave my house for work, I'll turn wifi off and iMapIdle on.

This never happened with my Treo + Chatteremail, but then my Treo didn't have Wifi.

    Hi

For me the drainage is bigger, if I have it on all day and night, I think it pulls the battery dry in 24 hours. However, if I turn it off at night, its kind of okay.

Another thing I noticed is that when I go to Settings, Usage, the standby time and usage time is the same. It mean that Imap idle actually lets the phone's screen turn off, but the phone never sleeps.

    Cheers

    Ben

You are probably right - if I read correctly, for the Idle program to not be exited, the phone can't go to sleep. So the program disables sleep.

    Hi deadstick,

I saw you just introduced iSolitaire. Another great app. Excellent job!!!

Do you think any way you can implement the suggestion above for iMapIdle?

    Thanks.
