I wanted to request a feature if I could. I like the iMapIdler and I wouldn't have a problem leaving it on all the time, except that it means when my phone wanders into a wireless access point its going to attach, and then promptly stay attached until its battery drains as WiFi sucks it dry. I was wondering if it would be possible to have an option for iMapIdler to watch and see what mode the phone is currently in, on wifi or on edge, and if it is on wifi to simply not do the trick to keep things alive. Once the phone drops from wifi back to edge, turn the trick back on and then keep things alive on edge.

    Thanks

Today, the app has been working fine:

    - rebooted this morning after recharging the battery all night
    - before leaving the house, turned WIFI "off", turned iMapIdle "on"
    - various test emails are working today

    I've also noticed:

    - gmail access (imap) has been fast today

So -- I'm not sure if yesterday's problems were due to a gmail issue, my edge pooping out (Rogers, Canada) or other Gremlins.

deadstick, NICE job. I'm sure you have lots of ideas for improvement (adding sender/subject, multiple accounts, etc). This is one of those "well no shit, why didnt someone do this sooner!" ideas.

When email arrives, the "check" option doesn't seem to open the email application.

I just donated. Keep up the good work.

    Thumbs up

    Good work!!

    Everything works well!!

The only problem seems to be with the check button when you receive a notification, it doesn't launch the mail application.

Where does mail.app on the iphone store messages? Are they text files + a database entry? It would be amazing if this program could fetch each new message via its open connection and then write them to disk for the mail program, rather than forcing a manual poll.

Same here, notification works well but check does nothing.

Feature Request: Could you make an option so that the notification was similar to MailNotifier (a little icon in the topbar) as opposed to a popup?

    Great app by the way.

Does anyone know if someone is looking into something similar but for push contacts/calendar, possibly from exchange server using probably the OMA stuff for the push, (my knowledge of it is somewhat limited?)

    How strange!?

Everything worked very well after installing it...I conducted a series of test emails and they were pushed throught to my iphone very quickly.

Stopped using the device for a few hours and Imap Idle suddenly stopped working. I sent a series of emails to my gmail account and nothing! Turned off the iphone and turned it back on again...switching Imap Idle back on....and nothing.

It seems like it completely stopped working without any changes made?!

    Any ideas?
