    I am looking into this as soon as I get off work tomorrow. Should be relatively easy to do. The trick will be finding a way to have the events only shown on the slide to unlock screen. That is something I don't know how to do. Querying sqlite and outputting to a dialog style box should be relatively simple.

    Give me a few days to try my best and I'll try to post updates along the way.

    Wish me luck!

    PS: I will open source it even if my code sucks, once it is complete or if I run into problems.

    Maybe there's a native API to do this...someone with experience about this?
    Mobile scrobbler does this too! I guess C99koder knows what API to use?
    About calendar read/write API the author of MNPlight must know how to do.

    I suggest you use the calendar APIs, not query the database directly. All those special cases (repeating events for example) might not be as simple as you're imagining right now
    I've just started Objective-C, and haven't really written any real code yet, but I remember having seen this (- components:fromDate:toDateptions: in NSCalendar).

    That whole overview there should be quite helpful

    Yes, one of those features I missed from my old MS mobile.

    Default Some success.

    Based on gerard's tip about MobileScrobbler, I did some investigation and extracted the relevant code into my own little test app. Unfortunately, you only get one line (\n does not work), but it'll stay there until you change it or start playing music. I'd really like to figure out how to take advantage of the album art functionality as I'm actually more interested in displaying an analog clock on the 'Slide to Unlock' screen. I never liked digital clocks, but nevertheless use my iPhone as a pocketwatch.

    Anyway, here's a screen cap:

    You need to add this interface section:

    Code:
    @interface SystemNowPlayingController : NSObject
    {
    	int _disableHUDCount;
    	BOOL _notifyEnableSystemHUDLastPostedState;
    	int _notifyDisableSystemHUDToken;
    }

    + (id)sharedInstance;
    - (id)init;
    - (id)_init;
    - (void)dealloc;
    - (void)_setEnableSBMediaHUD:(BOOL)fp8;
    - (void)disableMediaHUD;
    - (void)enableMediaHUD;
    - (void)_postCurrentMedia:(BOOL)fp8 path:(id)fp12 title:(id)fp16 artist:(id)fp20 album:(id)fp24 isPlaying:(BOOL)fp28 playingToTVOut:(BOOL)fp32 hasImageData:(BOOL)fp36 additionalInfoString:(id)fp40;
    - (void)postNowPlayingInfoForMovieWithTitle:(id)fp8 artist:(id)fp12 album:(id)fp16 isPlaying:(BOOL)fp20 playingToTVOut:(BOOL)fp24;
    - (void)postNowPlayingInfoForSongWithPath:(id)fp8 title:(id)fp12 artist:(id)fp16 album:(id)fp20 isPlaying:(BOOL)fp24 hasImageData:(BOOL)fp28 additionalInfoString:(id)fp32;

    @end
    And this code to put a string on the "Slide to Unlock" screen:

    Code:
    [[SystemNowPlayingController sharedInstance] postNowPlayingInfoForSongWithPath:nil title:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"3:00 PM   Make this a real app!"] artist:[NSString stringWithFormat:@""] album:[NSString stringWithFormat:@""] isPlaying:YES hasImageData:NO additionalInfoString:nil];
    Finally, include the MobileMusicPlayer header file:

    Code:
    #import <MobileMusicPlayer/MobileMusicPlayer.h>

    Hi gburnham,

    Any progress on your try?

    Not really. So far I am able to create a notification within my own calnotify application that brings the next calendar event, but that is it. I am still a super beginner coder, so I'm trying my best haha.

    Anyone know of any decent open source iPhone projects that I might be able to learn some coding tricks from?

    Did you also try \r\n for a new line? For some systems \n is a new line, but for others it is \r\n.

    The screencap is really nice!
