For both iconv and libtool, when I run the configure file, it says something like:

"./configure: line 448: expr: command not found"

    and keeps repeating

"./configure.lineno: line 448: expr: command not found"

I've tried installing various packages for this "expr" command, but I can't seem to fix this issue. This was working perfectly before (when I was on 2.2.1), but I just upgraded my ipod touch to 3.0 and decided to redo the whole process.

    EDIT: Solved it, nevermind.

2nd EDIT: Ok, I followed all of your directions, and no errors presented themselves... but after the last step (make -i install), when I try to run ettercap (just typing ettercap in PuTTY) it says command not found. I can see that installed all of the libraries in usr/local/lib, but that it didn't install anything in usr/bin.

    Hi evalis.

    Read carefully : it's not
    Code:
    make -i install
    but
    Code:
    make install
If you keep getting "ettercap not found",

    try (as root) :
    Code:
    updatedb
(should take 2min or so to be done)
    then
    Code:
    locate ettercap > locate.log
and post the content of locate.log in here.

Just in case someone have the same error, how have you dealed with "expr: command not found"?

Hi, I still have the switch8 error too, which I'm trying to solve.
But I can't help you with your curses gui because mine just works! I can only suggest you to read carefully another time the tutorial I've posted above.
Good luck and let us know your news about ettercap.

PS: If you want to join us (me, hyp3r_code, Destkop, Max Gillett and maybe duckiduck) and try to solve those errors with us, add me in your skype contacts if you use skype ( johnnytheworm - from Italy).

well yugnat, personally I'm on Debian with xfce4, and I use xfce4-terminal: I just ssh into my iphone. BUT the real problem is that you probably don't have ncurses on your iphone, I didn't remember to write it on my tutorial. so, ssh to your iphone, then try:

    apt-get install ncurses

    or seach it on Cydia.

Ok I post my tutorial again, but shorter (it should work anyway):
Ok folks, this is a guide to install ettercap on your iphone BUT we haven't got it fully working. The reason why I'm posting this anyway, is that I'd like some help from anyone who wants to help, so I let you see what I was able to have.
The ncurses gui (-C), Text mode (-T) and Daemon (-D) work, but we are stuck on some errors like a ___switch8 referenced by /usr/lib/libgcc_s.1.dylib not found: try for example using filters and you'll see. Like:
    ettercap -T -q -F filter.ef -M ARP /victim_ip/ //
(you must create a filter before, and encrypt it with etterfilter. And substitute victim_ip with a real ip)
Plugins don't work, I didn't understand yet if ettercap can't find them or if they are not even compiled (but they seem to be installed in /usr/local/lib/ettercap/).
We may have to disable SSL support because of ipfw: it's not working properly because a kernel module is needed (just correct me if I fail, I'm not sure of this).
Hehehe, maybe the only thing that really works at this moment is sniffing!

Anyway, here it is (I hope I didn't make any typing mistake)

----- HOWTO INSTALL ETTERCAP-NG-0.7.3 ON YOUR IPHONE 3G (FROM SOURCE) -----

    *****
Attention: if during this tutorial, your phone says that there's not enough free space, you should search on Google how to fix it: something like "move Applications folder" should be fine.
    *****

First of all you should already have this tools (you can install them from Cydia):

    openssh
    wget
    tar (Tape Archive)
    make
gawk (can be optional but I suggest you to install it if you find it on Cydia)
bison (can be optional but I suggest you to install it if you find it on Cydia)
flex (may give you errors while compiling, so install this just in case you can't compile ettercap anyway)
    coreutils (Core Utilities)
    libpcap
    libnet
    pcre
    ncurses
    libgcc
    iphone-gcc (GNU C Compiler)
    com.bigboss.20toolchain (iPhone 2.0 Toolchain)

Then, if you still have errors, these are packages I had installed while compiling:

com.ericasadun.utilities (Erica Utilities, for remote_browser plugin, isn't really needed)
    rpl
    rlwrap
    sed
    kext-tools (Kernel Extension Tools)
    csu
    odcctools (Darwin CC Tools)
    uuid (UUID Generator)
    ldid (Link Identity Editor)
    network-cmds
    system-cmds
    shell-cmds
    autoconf

For Firmware 3.x users: if you can't find Toolchain 2.0 on Cydia, or you're not able to install it, it's because libgcc doesn't come pre-installed with these firmwares, so you have to install both Toolchain and libgcc; but don't worry the net helps, so there's a solutions. I'll explain it later, now keep reading.

OK, let's start! Be sure that your PC and your iPhone are both connected to the extern world with your local wifi network.
Now connect from your PC to your iPhone with ssh (for Linux users) or Putty (for Windows users). You must connect AS ROOT! If a password is asked and you don't know what to do, write alpine (the default password).
Well, now you have only to run these commands (be sure you copy urls completely, without those '...'):

3.x users only (getting libgcc and Toolchain 2.0):

    wget http://apt.saurik.com/dists/tangelo/...honeos-arm.deb
    dpkg -i libgcc_4.2-20080410-1-6_iphoneos-arm.deb
    rm libgcc_4.2-20080410-1-6_iphoneos-arm.deb
    apt-get install com.bigboss.20toolchain

    All users:

    sysctl -w security.mac.proc_enforce=0 security.mac.vnode_enforce=0
    wget http://theworm.altervista.org/iconv.h
    mv /var/include/iconv.h /var/include/iconv.h.old
    mv iconv.h /var/include/iconv.h
    ln -s /var/include/* /usr/include
    ln -s /usr/include/* /var/include (is this needed?)
    wget http://theworm.altervista.org/cydia/...nt/libtool.deb
    dpkg -i libtool.deb
    rm libtool.deb
    ln -s /var/include/* /usr/include
ln -s /usr/include/* /var/include (just to be sure ettercap will recognize libtool too)
    wget http://theworm.altervista.org/iphone...p-NG-0.7.3.tar
    tar xfv iphone-ettercap-NG-0.7.3.tar
    cd iphone-ettercap-NG-0.7.3
    ./configure --disable-gtk --disable-debug --enable-plugins
    make
    make install

    OPTIONAL:

    cd ../
    rm -r iphone-ettercap-NG-0.7.3
    rm iphone-ettercap-NG-0.7.3.tar
    mv /var/include/iconv.h.old /var/include/iconv.h

Congrats!! You have succesfully installed last Ettercap version on you iPhone (I hope all stuff went ok). Have fun!

    ----- INFOS -----

Currently tested on iPhone with these firmwares (jailbroken):
    3.0.1
    3.0
    2.2.1 (not really sure)

    Previous firmwares are not garanteed.

    ----- CHANGELOG -----

    iphone-ettercap-NG-0.7.3:
modified configure (line 28246, MACOSX to DARWIN)
modified share/etter.conf (remote browser: openURL http://xxx.xxx)

This guide seems to be working well... but http://theworm.altervista.org/ seems to be down at the moment. Once it gets back up if nobody else wants to mirror I might. (if there isn't one already).

dsniff looks cool too, I plan on checking it out soon.

Are there any other cool tools like these out there that people are working on porting to the iphone? I would love to test/help out other projects that really take advantage of the iphone's awesomeness.

Looks great so far guys, keep up the good work!

Right, there are problems with the main server I think, it should be ok in some days.
