    You'll need a lens or a pinhole or something, because the iPhone camera can't focus on nearby objects. Fresnel lenses work great, though, and can be carried in the wallet.

    Ya. I agree, the iPhone camara cant focus !

    And what did he think before posting such a request! You need different hardware to do all this!

    It's not a function of hardware, but rather software. I've used the Motorola Ming which has a business card scanner function. It uses the camera and optical character recognition software to capture name's, phone numbers, etc. off of a business card, and it works quite well.

    Now to another posters point, the camera on the iPhone cannot focus clearly enough at close range for this to work (the Ming had a macro mode for close shots).
