Default [Req] Accelerometer based silence mode..

    Hi.
I just read a little about the application FlipSilent and ShakeSMS that you can get for Symbian S60 series. It's based on the accelerometer and works like this: You flip the phone over, screen down, and the phone gets into silenced mode. Ie no ringtones or vibration. When you turn it back, the sound and everything is as normal. Shouldn't this be an easy task to make for the iphone? See Flipsilent.com for more info. I have seen it discussed on other forums, but no-one have tried to make one... Also, shakesms lets you just shake the phone to read new messages. Nifty stuff, and a must have for the iphone?
    Regards

    I don't think it' s a good idea.
Many times I flip it because I don't want other people to see who is calling me, or sms me.
And I would have to check very often the position of the iphone when inside a pocket of a jacket or something...
Not worth it for me... just worthless marketing stuff to impress people(until they use the feature).

Well if the phone is locked then the accelerometer wouldnt be used so it doesnt matter if you move the phone. That option tottow is talking is interesting. Well I liked the thing where you turn the phone it turns the screen (like photos and safari but in this case the whole OS). The other option where you flip the phone in one side and it goes to another app like using the arrows in the keyboard I dont like

ermis: The point is that the accelerometer knows which way you hold the phone, so unless you have it with the screen face down towards your feet and you have REALLY BIG POCKETS, so that you can actually carry the phone laying on the screen, it shouldn't be a problem. It won't do it if the phone is in a vertical position in your pocket, only horizontal. I believe thats the way that gravity works

The reason why I got so interested in this, is for example in meetings you would often have the phone on the table in front of you, and if you then have it screen down, you don't have to worry if the phone is in silenced mode or not..

I hope you understand where I am going with this..

It doesn't seem necessary to me when the silencing switch is so accessible and easy to see already.

lol i know. It's like my mates Nokia, he was listening to music on it and everytime he wanted to change track he shook the phone, then looked to what track came on next. How is shaking the phone easier than pressing a button lol?
