Talking [Release] Native SIP Client from sipgate

    Just come across this:

    https://secure.sipgate.com/index.html

The software is free, it looks like they're giving you 111 minutes for free, and they're even opening talking about you using their software with a different SIP provider.

    This looks awesome to me!

For US sipgate.com customers, you can just enter your SIP ID and password and you're away. I'm trying to get it to work with my SIP provider here in the UK: sipgate.co.uk. By entering 'sipgate.co.uk' as the proxy and realm I can authenticate with my sipgate.co.uk account and make outgoing calls. I'm not able to receive any calls, though, which is odd. Anyone with any ideas?

You have to type 00 instead.

Just found and installed it from www.sipgate.de, they do have a german version aswell.

I am really happy, seeing sipgate jump on the iPhone. The software is still beta. So there's a lot they can and have to improve like:
    1. I can receive calls, but no ringtone, just a popup window
    2. no access from contacts in addressbook
    3. no lookup in addressbook when "known" contact calls
    4. agree, missing + for int. calls
    5. of cause you only can receive calls, when app is open (apple does not want background apps like fring does work, but it would be nice)
    ...

But, this is beta and I like it. Frings VoIP functionality is still ahead, but sipgate is moving forward, thats good.

I good, seeing a real sipgate app coming up, go sippers

I got to the agree or not agree to the terms and it wouldn't let me touch either or get out of the software (had to ssh in and kill it). I guess that means the terms were unacceptable (since I couldn't accept them).

    Boing!

(ok... it worked the second time and I found the terms acceptable)...

But now! I can't enter anything in the configure account tab... in fact after trying a few times (never even get to an entry window) it kills itself and returns to the springboard. Bah.... Buggy software....

Guess I'll wait till the next release.
