sitting here in my hotel room, cut off from a way to download podcasts, it occurs to me that some cunning combination of:
- a scripting language
- apache or file://
Could allow you to specify a URL or rss feed, which you would download the mp3 attachments from, and construct a HTML file linking to them locally.
You'd then have offline cached access to podcasts, downloaded directly to the phone.
Does this sound possible? If the iPhone browser allows file:// urls, the whole thing could just be a single perl script.
This may be fairly simple.
Go here for some useful linkage:
Quick Tip: When I was playing around with this, I found it much easier to use tinyurl.com to shorten the links I was typing into the phone.
