Funiculus Guitar Tuner v0.01 - testers needed
I've put Funiculus Guitar Tuner, v0.01 (alpha) in the downloads section of its SourceForge project: http://sourceforge.net/projects/funiculus/ .
To install it, just do the usual...download it, place Funiculus.app in the applications directory, and make sure the permissions are set for both the folder and the executable. (Source code is also up-to-date.)
Because this app uses the internal microphone for pitch detection, it will only work for the iPhone and not the iPod touch. (And I've only tested it on 1.1.1 so far).
This is a very very early version, and the pitch detection is not perfect...I plan on making a number of improvements over the next few weeks. The user-interface is not great either. The point of releasing it right now is to see how it works on other guitars...different guitars have different acoustics, etc...
I've only tested it on one guitar so far...it has some problems detecting low E and A. But since low E will actually register well when the tuner is set to high E (on my guitar at least), I figure I can implement some algorithm to look at different octaves...if you test this, please let me know if this works for your guitar as well.
And I imagine this a pretty energy intensive program, so don't forget about it and leave it running, or your battery will probably drain.
