Default Preparing a Dev Environment in 10.5? Help please.

    Hi,

I'm new to iPhone development, not new to programming in general (at all). But I've been having trouble figuring out all the information on iPhone development and setting up a dev environment (commandline or XCode)...

If anyone could point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated. I am on Mac OS X 10.5 if that helps.

    Thank you

Alright, I just needed a good google query, I wasn't sure. I searched for "iPhone dev" (which brought me here) "iPhone SDK" (which just brought up a bunch of news articles about the upcoming SDK), etc.

I already know objective-C quite well from developing OS X apps So hopefully the iPhone won't be too difficult of a transition.

    Question

Pleas, can anyone put together a compleate guide to install and configure the iPhone toolchain for Leopard. I don't understand what to do in the google code page for the toolchain installation.

    Thanks.
I own the first iPhone (activated, using a.plist) in Sweden and now I hope that I will soon use it with my carrier, Telia, here in Sweden.

    Thumbs up

    Hello mates,

Thanks Rikk and eduz for the help. I followed the link:

Click here: iPhone Coding: Build your Leopard toolchain from scratch

and then followed the process described in:

Click here: handy how-to that walks you through the process

Then got stuck in the this :

Configure and make LLVM-GCC. Make sure that $LLVMOBJDIR and $HEAVENLY are set per the instructions
    above.

    mv llvm-gcc-4.0-iphone/configure llvm-gcc-4.0-iphone/configure.old
    sed 's/^FLAGS_FOR_TARGET=$/FLAGS_FOR_TARGET=${FLAGS_FOR_TARGET-}/g' \ llvm-gcc-4.0-iphone/configure.old > llvm-gcc-4.0-iphone/configure

I did the first instruction correctly. However, when I executed :

    sed 's/^FLAGS_FOR_TARGET=$/FLAGS_FOR_TARGET=${FLAGS_FOR_TARGET-}/g' \ llvm-gcc-4.0-iphone/configure.old > llvm-gcc-4.0-iphone/configure

    I got this error :

sed: llvm-gcc-4.0-iphone/configure.old: No such file or directory

Can someone please guide me what I made error in this instruction ?!

Your help is kindly appreciated in advanced,

Best regards and thanks again mates

    Default

    sed 's/^FLAGS_FOR_TARGET=$/FLAGS_FOR_TARGET=${FLAGS_FOR_TARGET-}/g' \ llvm-gcc-4.0-iphone/configure.old > llvm-gcc-4.0-iphone/configure
I got stuck at that too... but I noticed there is a backslash in the middle of that (signaling multiline maybe?) So I removed that to this:

    sed 's/^FLAGS_FOR_TARGET=$/FLAGS_FOR_TARGET=${FLAGS_FOR_TARGET-}/g' llvm-gcc-4.0-iphone/configure.old > llvm-gcc-4.0-iphone/configure
And that step worked as far as I can tell. but then when I ran the configure line... I got permission denied And I chmodded it to add execution permissions but then it just didn't work, nothing happened.
