    Default OpenVPN

I am sure at least some of you have used OpenVPN before. It is available on every platform known to man and by far the best open-source VPN ever. I was wondering if it possible to port this to the iphone see how the vpn software that is on there is well...crap. Any ideas or anyone willing to give this a shot?

I'd really like an openvpn client too. Here's hoping someone with the brains will be able to work something out :-)

ITs not all that straightforward... I took a look at it and one of the most tricky parts of the port would be the TUN/TAP drivers, which are essential components of OpenVPN (the virtual ethernet adapters)....

    Not easy by any means.

Fingers crossed someone with greater skills may take an interest in this.

Ya after talking to some others it appears this would be alot of work. I am not near experienced to do anything like this. With the TAP drivers it would seem that would tie in pretty tight with the OS so I am sure it isn't easy.

I'd say the most likely candidate for deving this would be the OpenVPN guys themselves. I sent them an email a few days back so we shall see what they say.

This probably would be a lot easier achieved if you guys contacted the creator of 'TunnelBlick' the native gui/openvpn client in one package, figured out how he created the tun/tap drivers
and rebuild the interface for it. He's got the TUN/TAP drivers done already (which work on mac os x) so your only issue now would be the interface

lol. yeah, unfortunately in the real world kernel level device writing is somewhat more involved than this.

The author of tunnelblick only wrote the interface... the OpenVPN team did the rest of it....
