I've now dropped the copy in the /Applications folder on my other Iphone,
    re-permissioned it all (won't hurt) (chmod 755 *) and ...
it does show up on the screen (obviously), but won't run.
It gives a message "Can't open NetShare program"

    Clues, anyone?
The reason this app got pulled is simple, AT&T has other 3g devices such as the Blackjack II that allow tethering through an AT&T supplied application - for which they charge an extra $30 a month over the phone's data plan for the tethering option

How would that matter? I mean, technically.
If, by doing so, I'd bring some extra difference
to the process, which, on the other hand,
should be also achievable with some local action,
then it could possibly be done manually/scripted.
And that's perhaps the missing link I'm looking for.

I dont think you can SSH and copy a purchased app from an iPhone and SSH it to your iPhone. You need the ipa, only then you can get it work by extracting the .app folder.

actually, i know of someone who has just zipped it back, then umcompressed off a Mac to iphone, and that worked, even without diaabling the signatures. that's why i wondered how having some other app loaded off the appstore first would be making it any different...

    Default Getting NetShare working

I'm struggling getting this to work for me. I obtained the "modified" version and followed the procedure of manually installing the app, creating folders, setting permissions, and finally rebooting. The NetShare icon appears on the my homepage. However, when I try to run it, I get a white title bar, a black screen, for a second or two and then it just returns to the homepage. I've checked the newly created folder names, permission on new and existing files numerous times, which all seem correct, and still am not able to get this working.

    BTW: I'm jailbroken w/2.0.1

I'd appreciate any tips, recommendations, or comments to help me get this going.

I used the following "Direct" method described here for modified games/app: http://www.demonoid.com/files/details/1572921/775222/

The file I downloaded was in the form of NetShare.app.zip.

Thanks in advance for your help.
