    Question Native app sounds

When I use any app that isn't made by Apple and it plays a sound my music stops playing or the iPod app crashes. Is this normal for everyone? I tried to search but didn't find anyone with similar issues. Thanks.

Yes, it is for me at least. It drives me insane. I'd prefer that my programs not make any sound at all rather than forcing me to switch to iTunes and hit play again... and again... and again... But my music usually fades out and never comes back.

That would be because they're not playing nicely with mediaserverd.

There's a good write up about it here: http://variogram.com/latest/?p=25

Thanks for the link, I thought I was the only one who cared about listening to music while doing other things lol. I wonder if there is a way to have the programs send the play command after every sound they play to compensate (if there is music already playing of course)?

One thing that really anoys me about audio in custom apps on the iPhone is that they still play sounds even if I set the phone on mute.

Give it time - we're only just getting our toes wet. Does anyone know where the mute button status is held? There's gotta be an API call somewhere to check it.
