Hey there. I sought the solution here, and found only one unanswered topic, so I'd like to ask again: is there a plugin or some native way to turn off images? My provider charges for EDGE over 5MB, so that's a bummer since I crashed that one in a day.
Anyways, here are the options I tried and was going to try, but I would welcome some input on this:
1) Use some bookmarklet to strip images
Good thought, but it only works after the page is loaded. The feature that it blocks the images afterwards does not work, at least not in my 1.1.3. Safari.
2) Use a proxy like HoTTProxy
I thought about using the perl repository by conceited software, and installing a proxy server on the iPhone like http://www.hottproxy.org/, designed to shape stuff for mobile phones with limited bandwidth. I have no idea how to do it yet, I'll explore that over the weekend.
I would love it if someone has a better solution for this.
