    Use this for mp3, It was taken from the quicktime plugin plist. You have to set in the same sections in the quicktime plist the WebPlugintypeEnabled key to False.

    Code:
    <key>audio/mpeg</key>
    		<dict>
    			<key>WebPluginExtensions</key>
    			<array>
    				<string>mpeg</string>
    				<string>mpg</string>
    				<string>mp3</string>
    				<string>swa</string>
    			</array>
    			<key>WebPluginTypeDescription</key>
    			<string>MPEG audio</string>
    			<key>WebPluginTypeEnabled</key>
    			<true/>
    		</dict>
    		<key>audio/mpeg3</key>
    		<dict>
    			<key>WebPluginExtensions</key>
    			<array>
    				<string>mp3</string>
    				<string>swa</string>
    			</array>
    			<key>WebPluginTypeDescription</key>
    			<string>MP3 audio</string>

    Sorry for this noob question..
    The destination folder "/var/root/Downloads" where it saves the files is it in the music partition (the bigger one) or in the OS like partition?

    Are you planning to include it as an installer source?

    Regards and keep going!

    Good question, as I forgot to mention that detail.

    It is in the bigger partition. I wanted to make sure of that because the OS partition is so small. I'm also under the impression that you don't require a jailbreak to be able to access that area, however I don't know.

    I'm not planning on making the download location customizable since it makes it possible for people to make utilities that know of a predictable location for Downloads. Since it's a folder called Downloads in the user's home directory, it feels intuitive in that Mac OS X Leopard downloads to there too.

    In addition, most iphones tend to have that area set as noexec. So on the off chance that somebody makes a page that downloads a malicious executable and somehow finds a exploitable bug in this plugin or in Safari, it's a increase in the chance that the file can't be run.

    As for installer source? No idea. I currently have no web space I consider suitable to post this on, as I'm not sure how smart would it be to use a .mac account to post this Plus, I never looked up how since I don't have installer installed on my iphone.

    Hachu,

    Great plugin... I have one request: Would it be possible to have a "save as..." dialogue ???? Maybe optional ??? I am trying to use this for downloading messages from m.grandcentral.com it works fine with my prevously posted changes to the Info.plist file. It downloads the mp3 file but the filename is a very long string...

    Also I am looking forward to the source... should be a great starting point for other plugins.

    It doesn't work for me (1.1.1)
    I have created (over WinSCP) a new directory named
    /System/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/File Download Plugin.webplugin
    and put two files there (Info.plist, LCDownloader)
    then I changed the rights for LCDownloader to 755 and rebooted the iphone.
    Upon restart I've tried to download small zip file from Internet using direct link in Safari. Safari returned me an error " Safari can't download this file".
    What's wrong?

    alk: I had the same problem... were you editing Info.plist with the plist editor from MacOsX ? Try using a regular text editor that seemed to have fixed the problem for me.
