I think pretty much everyone has this problem ... iPhone SMS doesn't allow you to mass SMS ... I really hope someone could create something for this =) instead of people doing it manually one by one

This seems like it is high on the list of complaints a lot of people have about the iPhone, which means that such an app would be very popular until Apple released their own SMS app upgrade that supports multiple recipients. I'd guess that one would be coming sooner, rather than later, especially since it sounds like something AT&T would want.

you know, on sundays - when im acting as commissioner for our fantasy football league - i just resort to my old phone - type up one message, select the boys, and im off to the races

i would also like to see a mass messaging app - but one where i can choose the individual contacts rather than a group - i dont ALWAYS want to send mass messages to the same people - and setting up different groups for the different combinations of contacts i might want to send to would be ridiculous...

someone with more brains than me - come up with this app!

What with me being a Club night promoter and with a hefty 22,000 message a weekend deal off 02, I'd pay for a programme like this!

I'm testing a mass-text-messaging online program... www.3jam.com . They say it is free, but you may get a few promotion text-messages (which I haven't seen one yet - 2 weeks).

But... you can setup groups and single members and email them both at the same time if you wish. Both online and via your phone. Basically you email 1 text to 3jam with your flags of whom to text and it emails everyone flagged.

Well its not useless if you have MANY contacts' that's the whole point of mass texting. In this case the problem is not being able to access the contact numbers stored on the phone and in addition whether its possible or not to access the SMS feature of the phone to initiate the outbound text message, which I would assume is not possible.

That leaves us with leveraging SMS gateways to handle the sending of the message plus this is also cheaper if you don't have a decent SMS plan.

So, if someone here wants to help put the UI together we can provide the APIs to handle the send part as well as provide the mechanism to capture inbound messages.

It *is* useless if I need to reenter 500 numbers onto an external application, it *is* useless if I don't want to be sending my messages through a third party, revealing to this third party all my msg contents as well as all my phone number contacts...

I can get a decent SMS plan for my use, so a "gateway" app is for me and most users much less useful than a real mass sms option... I understand its your company and your business mrl72, but I'd much rather have it on my phone so I can pick the people I want and send them texts as I deem appropriate.

I'm going to be looking into somehting like this soon but at the moment I havent the time, hopefully apple will come through with this sooner rather than later...
