BTW, im a windose user and programmer. I'd be willing to create a app for windows that allows local modification of the database. It can even mimic the iphone interface. Its just painful to enter all my information using the iphone keyboard.
Not sure of the numbers, but from the amount of client-side software out there right now, I'd guess there just as much of a need for Mac applications as there are for Windows applications. If you can write it cross-platform, I would definitely vote for that option.

Personally, as a coder myself, I would opt for a tiny Eclipse RCP-based application. Write once, runs Win / Linux / OS X using native OS widgets.

Great! Yes that's very much what I had in mind. Thank you too, orcinus, very nice.

This is great. I have good choices now for the next release.

Not that it really matters but I think that the simple (golden) lock icon looks the best and integrates very well into the original iPhone default icon set.

i know this may sound weird, but suddenly my lockbox password stopped working.
i am ABSOLUTELY certain that im using the correct password, which may sound impossible technical wise, but ive been using this app for a while and it suddenly started me saying that i was inputting an incorrect password, i tried reinstalling and no luck, how do i recover lockbox funcionality? even if i lose all data in it? Thanks

Ugh, here's the deal. Ste, who maintains that repository, is being very resistant to add my app. He wants a developer he can trust to look over the code, build it themselves, and host it themselves, and do that for every release I do. It's really a burden on everyone to do it like that, and he also hasn't had any developer follow through. I'm trying to convince him that he can't possibly gaurentee that any of his other apps he hosts aren't malicous. Mine is in more of a hot spot, but at least mine is Open Source, with my freaking full name on my google code page. Not to mention I do work for a security software company as a developer and can prove it (simple email from that address).

He offered to host the binary, with warnings to the user that he accepts no liability for what it might do, and to use it at your own risk. I didn't find that acceptable - I think it will scare to many people, as I'd be the only other app (except that lame Dial 911 app) to have warnings on his repo.

So, help me convince him to host Lockbox without warnings and send him an email! Ste -a-t- smxy dot org.

    Hello,

Here is a letter to YOU:

This is a potentially sensitive application which deals with people's passwords.

I perfectly understand Ste's concerns, and approve them entirely.

Please abide by their request for independent compilation of the binaries.

A small burden for you, a big vote of confidence for us users.

    Thank you.
