I don't understand the need to convert any files. I can open and edit the strings in languagepack using Notepad. However, how do I get these documents to the files that are in GlobalPreferences? Or am I on the wrong track here?

Hmm...Sorry, my mistake. and I found the way to change it.
however don't do it unless u need it badly. and remember to backup the file first.

Here is screenshot for Chinese version. it says 8/26 Sunday.

Open SpringBoard.app/SpringBoard with Hex editor (I use Hex Fiend) and search for EEE. then you can edit it from there, but need to keep exactly same length as original string.

Not sure will this effect the whole system. will test it for few more days to see how's everything working. and you can edit other app as well.

    Default Japanese Display

    Please forgive my ignorance. Newbie.

I'm a bit confused about something. I recall reading two different things.

One post said, it is possible to just change a global setting and have, in my case Japanese, show up, is this true, or did I misread?

Or is it necessary to actually go into Localizable.Strings and edit each string?

    ありがとう^^
