    Default [Language] Adding Arabic Support?

    Hello All,

I was hoping someone can help me with this? The iPhone dosent come with Arabic support at the moment, however if the iPhone is based on OSX I'm assuming that it is Unicode based so support for Arabic is built in but no Arabic fonts are installed.

    Does this sound logical?

If this is true then how do we make the system support Arabic? I tried changing the font verdana.ttf in /System/Library/Fonts however that didnt do a think. Is it that my theory is wrong? or that I'm missing more steps?

I would appreciate any help here.

my webpage is TIS-620 Encoding but iPhone didn't know this encoding so they use latin-1 to display and for latin-1 the font is Verdana that I can add Thai character to. But I just wanna know which Font use for display UTF-8 Unicode, I think it is a system font as well.

The OS use font "arialuni.ttf " in System/Library/Fonts/Cache to display character in UTF-8 Unicode. I added thai unicode range character to that font. Then the system can display any thai content correctly, Artist name in ipod, contact name in Thai, e-mail body etc.

Note that other web pages that use different code other than UTF-8 relate to another font, Latin code use verdana.ttf for example.

I'm now can read all Thai character by added thai character replace to symbol that incorrectly display. Since i have no experience making font. I used manual eyes match method to map thai to symbol.

Font that i modify is Helvetica.ttf, TimesNewRoman.ttf and Verdana.ttf include bold in the same family.

    Cheers,
    kit

I use Fontlab studio to edit font. By open working Unicode thai font and copy characters into Arailuni.ttf

Note that since Fontlab studio cannot generate large unicode font like Arailuni.ttf (which have many characters in many language). So i have to delete chinese characters to make it work.
