Forget it, there is no Java support at all.

Even though the iPhone Arm CPU has a native support of Java called Jazelle.

    (Jazelle > http://www.arm.com/products/esd/jazelle_home.html )

Windows Mobile had 3rd party jvm for midlets. I think it's certainly possible on the iPhone.

What about iPhone/Java? It's by the same guy that made Cydia and ported a lot of other languages to the iPhone. According to him, it has full support for graphical applications.

    Java is coming.

"The JVM is to be based on the Java Micro Edition (ME) version of Java, said Eric Klein, vice president of Java marketing at Sun, on Friday afternoon."
