    Hi,

I like the idea of the program a lot, I believe it's going to be really great in the final version. Here are some bugs I noticed and some suggestions :

    Bugs :
    1. Sometimes after unlocking the screen when I'm reading the message or composing a new one, the screen goes blank an the phone locks. Then I have to press the home button a couple of times to unlock it (edit: This problem seems not to be related to isms, it happens even after uninstalling it).
    2. The same emticons sometimes display correctly and sometimes as just characters, even within the same message.
    3. When I reply the message and the text is longer than editing window I can only see the part of the message I'm typing. In the native sms app a new line is added to the editing window and the whole message is visible.

    Suggestions :
Actually for now I have only one. When replying to the message I would like the application to display the same kind of window as the one used for composing a new message instead of bubbles. It has a big editing window and I can insert smilies instead of single characters, so it's much more convinient.

I'm using 1.1.4 jailbroken by Liberty.

    Cheers

I love this app, but a couple of things are keeping me from using this app as a total replacement....I have a couple of suggestions.

    1) First off, I really like how you are using the same kind of conversation/chat UI as the default SMS app... but is there any way that you can enable the smiley faces while in this mode inside the caption bubbles? It really kills the cool factor when you have to exit back into the inbox and select that particular message in order to see it.. its kinda like, why bother?

    2) It would be nice if while in the conversation UI if you could tap on one of the caption bubbles and have it prompt you an option to (forward/delete/or send to drafts) the message that it contains within.

    3) I don't really like how the inbox is set up. I really like the way the default SMS app shows you the name of the recipient, and when you tap on that it goes into the conversation/chat UI... you should put an option somewhere where you could select weather you want it sorted by name, like the default SMS app... or by date, which is the way the iSMS app is currently set up.

    4) While in the conversation UI the header bar on top shows a button for
<<MESSAGES> then "the contacts name" then another button for <CLEAR>>.. this setup is fine but it would be nice if when you tap on the contacts name it brings you into the contact information... so you could initiate a call, email or whatever.

    5) This isn't a deal-breaker but it would rock if you could incorporate MMS somehow into this program... but if not then thats fine because SwirlyMMS works fine.

Great work so far!! keep it up!

The latest version (05291450) doesn't work on my phone.

It starts up, then displays a black screen with the title bar (service provider, battery level, etc). Hitting the home key takes me back to the spring board.

I haven't used iSMS in a long time (before you incorporated conversation view) but wow.

I think I'll wait for a stable release.

It is still being developed but it is not being released as often as it used to. There is new verion that came today that added switching on and off the message preview.

I recently was able to fix the constant new SMS notification issue that has been plaguing me for quite some time.

    Taken from lifehacker:

Head to your SMS database located at /var/mobile/Library/SMS

Copy the "sms.db" file to your PC.

    Download an SQLite Database Browser.

Once you have the browser, open up your "sms.db" file from within the browser.

    Not in the lifehacker article:

Click on the "Browse Data" tab and then click the "Table" drop down menu and click on msg_group. You will see a column named "unread_count." If any of them contains a "1," double click it and change the value to "0."

Apply changes, save, and re-upload your database to your iPhone. Click "Yes" when asked to replace the existing file (make a backup of your sms.db just in case). Then power off and then power back on your iPhone.

Alternatively, I could have deleted the person's entire SMS conversation log, but I have/had no interest in loosing all their messages.

Something else I did notice was an isms_schema_version under the database structure.

Shawn Chain, is there a way to remove this table?

Then power off and then power back on your iPhone.
Did anyone find a way not to reboot the iPhone ?
I have a little script to clean my sms database,
but i also have to reboot the phone.

If you have a look to applications such as iPhone PC Suite, it's possible to send sms,
delete sms .... without rebooting the iPhone.

Probably we have to tell one proceszs to reload the database.....
