This seems nice, but it appears that if you have the phone set to delete mail from the server when removed from Inbox, this will prevent that from working.

On another related note, I discovered while checking this out, that deleted mail isn't really deleted at all, but just marked deleted. When I looked in the phone in the mbox->Messages folders, every message I ever had was still in the box. Eventually this could really turn into a lot of space used. It was already about 6 MB for me, and I've only had my phone for a little over a month, with only one of my accts coming into the phone. I did figure out how to easily reset the database and really delete all those old messages ( I made a backup first):

    Navigate to :
    /private/var/root/Library/Mail

delete contents of Messages folders in all boxes
    delete Envelope Index

    restart the phone...

Seems to work perfectly, but if anybody has thoughts about the safety/wisdom of this, I'm interested.

This app definitely has tons of potential. A lot of people have said that they would like to delete multiple or all of their emails at a time. This would do the job!

Sweet! How does this app work? Are you able to directly modify the mobile mail database on the phone? If so, PLEASE team up with the IMAP Idle author. It would be amazing to have IMAP idle directly deliver new messages to the phone without having to do a full poll!

skier: Yes, I change the Mail.app database directly, it's quite simple actually. I've sent a PM to the IMAP Idle author, if something come out of this I'll let you know.

I have no complain, this works great for me, and I am sure the author is improving the features as we speak or should I say write

It's nice... but if there was any way to tell IMAP server to respect this read status and not overwrite it next time...
