    Default iPhone Text Editor: "Scribe"

I just put the finishing touches on the text editor I've been working on and uploaded it to Google Code:

    http://code.google.com/p/mobilescribe/

This is the first version so don't edit anything you don't have another copy of just in case! Still working on features, please feel free to suggest any I didn't list in the TODO. And of course report any bugs.

As I said in a previous post, I'd hoped to call this thing MobileTextEdit but that didn't work out since it was already taken. If you guys have not put any work into it yet, I'd be glad to merge our projects.

PS - It's open source of course but I haven't gotten my code into SVN just yet.

Has anyone had any problems installing/running Scribe?

IIRC mobiletextedit is already open source, may I ask if you have particular different plans for this, or why you dont merge and contribute to that one?

It would seem to me that 1 better text editor would be better than 2 worse ones, no? (unless you are doing this to learn, as en excercise, etc, etc)

Given the current state of MobileTextEdit, I'm not sure it's worth merging with. It doesn't actually do anything yet. It doesn't open files, but simply launches MobileFinder, and while it allows you to type in text, it crashes on save. Additionally, there haven't been any updates to this - or any of the other apps in the "suite" for a while now.

I uninstalled the Finder and TextEdit since they were just taking up space. Squid is better for just viewing the file structure, and MobileTextEdit effectively does nothing.

[edit]I should specify that this is from the interface. I've read that it can open files form the command line, but what's the point when there's solid, reliable cli editors?[/edit]

One thing that would be nice, though, is a package for Installer.app

I would actually like to merge with MobileTextEdit but I don't know how to get a hold of those guys (haven't seen them on IRC but I don't know their nicks). I was going to use the name but it was already in use. Working on getting it into Installer.
