Default [iPhone] One of Apple's biggest blunders - BUT I love it.

    What's the iPhone? Let's see....

A smartphone that can't open MS Office or PDF files.

A phone with a 2 MP camera which crashes a Windows laptop PC that has a built in webcam.

A multimedia device with a crippled Bluetooth implementation that won't let you share files or connect to stereo headphones.

An iPod that can't use regular headphones, unless you shave part of the connector off, or you buy an adapter.

A computer that needs to be upgraded once every 2 months to the latest firmware. No - not service packs, or fixes, or patches. 170 MB+ of stuff to download.

A device which you "buy", yet can't use outside of AT&T.

A computer that can't run any software outside anything that is Apple-approved.

A phone without many apps, actually. A couple of toys (Stock, Weather, Maps), and that's it.

Why is it that we love it so much, then?

It's not because of Apple - it's in spite of them! Apple has done everything they can to cripple or limit the iPhone. They lock us out, they try to tell us what to run, where to run it and with whom to share stuff. Let's get real - if Microsoft had created the iPhone, Microsoft haters would have had a field day with it, and with good reason. Quite frankly, I'm disgusted by Apple's actions - because the phone itself is a joy to use... a truly great device.

I recently updated my iphone to 1.1.4 and didn't install anything on purpose - and was reminded of how truly boring an iPhone is by itself. Yawn. Not even a basic game to waste time with. But the moment I added the Installer apps - simply incredible.

Just wanted to say that the reason I love my iPhone is because of all the hard work of everyone who has decided to help in freeing all of us from Apple's iron fist. Freedom is what it's all about - freedom of carrier, freedom of choosing whatever app I want to run. So far, Linux has it. Windows has it. And thanks to you guys, the iPhone has it.

    THANKS!

So true. iPhone is pretty much useless in the business world. It totally becomes show and tell instead of a tool for the trade.
