    Smile iPhone Development

    Hello All!

I've been browsing around this forum for a while now and lately got interested in developing software on the iPhone.

Can any developer please give me some pointers where to start?

I've been developing software for 6 years now so I just need a little push!

    Thanks Alot!
    Ben.

You also might want to read the Objective-C introduction on Apples websites, since it's a bit different from typical oo languages in its syntax. I found it to be better than the Obj-C book I bought.

A Windows setup did sound interesting (I develop most stuff on my Windows machine), so I tried those instruction myself... but the Cygwin source mentioned in the wiki there doesn't deliver any of these files it seems. I could get most tools installed through a standard source, but these 6 do not seem to be standard Cygwin, and without them, that installation won't be possible:
    • csu
    • goToolchain-Win
    • iphone-include
    • llvn-gcc-iphone
    • llvm-svn
    • odcctools

Is the iphonegameover.com Cygwin source currently unavailable?
Let me know if it works for you

I use the windows/cygwin toolchain, but I built it myself with the instructions on the fiveforty.net iphone-dev wiki (article something like "Installation of Toolchain on Windows"). I've built it on two windows machines without much of a problem.

i've written and build my first test application but how do i run it on my iPhone?

I Used WinSCP made a directory Test.app and pasted the "test" file but when i used the Launcher and clicked Test none happened.

What do I have to do?

@Godores: the only thing I'm afraid of with this self-built toolchain is that I've read reports that it takes 24-48 hours to do the whole thing

@B0SS: Take a look at all the other applications... inside the Test.App folder you need a Info.plist file as well (defining which executable should be run, for example), and an icon probably...

(for some very simple testing, you can also ssh to the phone and call the executable directly)
