    Default iPhone Cant Restore, Cannot Connect to Server

    hi, i have an iphone that itunes detected normal, then used ziphone to send to DFU so i can restore, as soon as it was in DFU...itunes error "The iPod software update server could not be contacted"

    Whats wrong? i NEVER got this problem and why does it say "iPod"

    thanks...stuck in dfu

    Check if your computer is connected to the internet.

    have you tried to manually select the ipsw instead of having iTunes get it...

    Try what )law( said and if that doesn't work try to disconnecting your internet for 30 seconds then reconnecting and try again.

    Had the same on a phone a couple of days ago even though my firmware files reside on a local drive. Seems as though iTunes needed to identify the device. Anyways I kept trying and eventually a phone icon popped up in iTunes and everything worked.

    i figured it out...its a DNS problem...anyone with this problem, please tell them its a dns problem...got mine working...stupid isp dns!

    Oddly enough while troubleshooting that restore I remember flushing the lookupd cache.
