    Default iPhone App Wishlist.

I wrote an elaborate post about this about 5 minutes ago, but my session timed out and the post was lost, lol... I hate when that happens haha, but i dont feel like typing up my novel all over again, so here is a trimmed down version of my original post idea lol.

    Text Twist

Widget Engine / Browser - to launch existing OS X widgets

Flickr Uploadr - upload iphone's camera roll to flickr

    Super Collapse

Video Recorder - w/ ability to upload videos to youtube.

Delicious Library - w/ iPhone camera barcode scanning, to create DVD/Book/Game wishlists when out and about at stores and such...

Adium for iPhone - a lot of people prefer this to iChat.

If you install the sftp bin on your iPhone using the latest bin kit and you can use transmit on a computer to copy files back and forth from you iPhone also, if you had two iPhones on the same wifi you could use transmit on a computer to fileshare between the two but, I could see how you would want a native iPhone transmit app to transfer directly

Also to add to the list:

    Firefox

    Last.fm

Colloquoy (native based app not web based)

    Preview

    Azureus

    nnny,

I have the sftp set up on my phone. but yeah, I really want transmit because I am a web designer... so i'd be able to use transmit to edit files on my server on the train, for example. I'd actually use a transmit-like FTP app to increase productivity while i am not near a computer.

Basically, the FTP app would have to have some sort of advanced text/dom editor built in.

Azureus is a really good idea as well, I should have thought of that lol.

RDP client (rdesktop should port fine)
This would mean I could finally work from anywhere, from a device that fits in my pocket. The zoom feature would make working in a normal desktop resolution practical on a portable screen.

I'm willing to make a significant donation to anyone willing to take on this project.

I gotta say, a couple of these seem a bit premature. Transmit on an iPhone so could do web design on the train? Doing any kind of serious web coding on the iPhone just seems nuts to me. working one character at a time doesn't seem like much fun, especially without a control key. Same goes for RDP - how much can you really get done? Personally, I'm glad to have ssh for emergencies, but I sure don't relish the thought of trying to, say, configure Apache via cli from an iPhone.

What I'd most like to see on the iPhone are improvements to the Apple-provided apps: spam blocking or rules for mail app, mobile Safari matching regular Safari in basic feature set, a scrolling launchpad that can hold more than 16 apps.

Other than that, the thing I'd most like to see is ruby on rails or PHP running on the existing Apache so I can whip up my own little apps.

i dont see how it would be hard to make any of these apps?

they already exist in os x, and are very simple apps for the most part.

"Simple" apps are usually more complex than they seem, and the iPhone's APIs are completely undocumented, and in many cases, simply incomplete. (I expect this to change with new releases of the OS.)

Why not just use the command line unix FTP, SFTP and SCP clients?

They already ported and work well.

No need for a complex GUI app :p
