    Question IP Address iPhone

    Hello!

My name is Sam and I'm new here. I've got a really big problem with my little iPhone.

I need the IP Address of the iPhone, and yes, I know that I have to search in

Settings > Wi-Fi > (name of my network) > blue arrow.

But if I do this, there is no IP Address, no subnet mask and so on inscribed.
What I have to do now? I'm searching for a solution all day long…

Thank you very much for your help!

    Have a nice day!

    Sam

If you are set to DHCP in the settings: Do you have access to a DHCP server. Otherwise the cant be any IP settings displayed. I dont use DHCP at home, set my IP at the iPhone manually....

I don't use DHCP, too. If I set my Settings of the router, nothing happens.
I can't use the internet, I'm connected to my router, but there is only the notification
that I can't connect the phone with the server.

Independence wants the IP Address of the iPhone. But, where is it? My menue is empty. I can't write the IP of my router in it…

Lets say your private network would be 192.168.1.1 or 10.1.1.1 or so. The router is probably set to 192.16.1.1. The router is set to accept WLAN connections. Do you use MAC as "security" access-control on the router. If so switch it off. Set the router to WPA/WPA2 for encryption. Does your router hide the SSID (name of you WLAN/Router)?
If so you have to chose "other" on the iPhone and type the SSID of your router cause the access point is not shown. Or - set the router not to hide the SSID. It does not help against hacking in anyway.

On the iPhone at "Settings"->"Wi-Fi" you should see your wlans name (if SSID is not hidden). Type on the blue arrow. Under IP Address hit "Static" cause you dont run a DHCP server.
Fingertip IP Address and type 192.168.1.100 or so, has to be a free IP in your private network, not used by your router or any other network device.
Fingertip "Subnet Mask" and type 255.255.255.0
Fingertip Router and type 192.168.1.1 (or your routers address)
Fingertip DNS and type 208.67.222.222 (its OpenDNS server, fast and realiable)

Doing that you got your IP settings

On my mac when I manually enter an IP address, I have to also manually enter a DNS server for the internet to work. If I use DHCP, I don't have to enter a DNS server. Maybe that's the way it's supposed to work, not sure though.

So, okay, I done that. Thanks for this!

But my Problem in Independence still exists.
    It says

Couldn't connect to SSH Server. Ensure IP address is correct, phone is connected to a network.

And if I want to connect me with a website, it tells me:

Safari couldn't connect to the server.

    Oooh, I hate it, really!

My iPhone is connected now to my router… But what now?

"If your iPhone is having trouble connecting to the Internet using your home or office Wi-Fi wireless router, the solution may be to change the iPhone’s DNS settings."

if you chose DHCP it uses the dns server that is set in your router. sometims you dont even have to do that cause dns is done by your provider.
this alway or at least often causes problems.

if you wanna use dhcp make sure to set dns in your router and use OpenDNS (www.opendns.com), they are fast and reliable. it will improve access time to all the connected pcs aswell
    208.67.222.222
    or/and
    208.67.220.220

if you use static ip do the same on the router plus use one of the above ips on your iphone.

    that helps for sure

Yes, I can connect me with my MacBook Pro and with my Mac Mini via wlan. But the iPhone isn't shown in the network… don't know why!

On my MacBook, I can see in the network my computer and the mini, but not the iPhone.

Its not "shown" in the network, it should have access to the internet and private network.
Did you set DNS in your Router to the OpenDNS ones. Did you set DNS on the iPhone (Wi-Fi) to one of the OpenDNS ones.
I often have typos on the iPhone. Is the IP address of the iPhone (Wi-Fi) set to one in your private network, differnet fron you macbook, mini and router. is the router address set correct? If so the phone should have internet access.
After that carry on with iNdependence.

By the way: Your iPhone is un-modded so far I guess. You did not install the unlock and patched your firmware before?
